Energy audit

Why carry out an energy audit?

An energy audit is much more than a simple assessment of consumption. It is an essential tool for identifying opportunities for improvement, uncovering unexplored paths to cost reduction, and guiding your company towards optimum energy performance. It’s an educational process that highlights the strengths and areas for development within your energy infrastructure.

Who is concerned by the energy audit?

Aimed at all industrial or tertiary activities, the energy audit is designed for those wishing to identify untapped sources of energy savings, reduce their energy consumption to increase their competitiveness on the market, replace obsolete equipment, and develop a lean and optimised energy mix.

Regulatory audit

(in accordance with standard EN 16247)

What is a regulatory audit?

The regulatory audit is an essential standard for companies with a turnover in excess of €50 million and a balance sheet in excess of €43 million, or with more than 250 employees. These companies are required to carry out a statutory energy audit every four years. This obligation applies to all industrial and tertiary activities. However, ISO 50001-certified companies are exempt from this requirement.

Why carry out a regulatory audit?

This audit is aimed at companies wishing to meet French and European environmental objectives, integrate a robust CSR policy, stand out from the competition, avoid financial penalties of up to 4% of sales excluding VAT, meet growing consumer expectations and modernise outdated equipment.

A strategic opportunity for businesses

More than just compliance, the regulatory audit is a genuine lever for environmental excellence. It aims to position your company as a player committed to preserving the environment, while guaranteeing its compliance with regulatory standards. Cleaneo transforms these standards into a strategic opportunity for your company.

Methodology

The audits take place in 8 stages:

Preliminary contact

The aim of this stage is to define together the scope of the project, the objectives, the client’s expectations, as well as the limits of the service or the degree of depth required.

1

2

Kick-off meeting

This meeting informs all project stakeholders of the audit schedule, progress and objectives. It also provides an opportunity to define the roles and responsibilities of each party to ensure the co-operation necessary for the audit to run smoothly. The organisation also informs the auditor of the site’s safety rules, thus ensuring that he can work on site in complete safety.

Data collection

A list of documents is requested to help the auditor in his analysis and to enable him to carry out more detailed research. This list will be adapted according to the sites under consideration.

3

4

Measurement plan

This plan enables instantaneous readings to be taken for level 1 audits or measurement campaigns over several days for level 2 audits.

On-site work

Each audited site is visited in order to understand the process, identify areas for improvement and collect any missing data for our study.

5

6

Analysis

Once all the data has been collected, the analysis work begins. This includes drawing up an energy balance for the site, defining performance indicators and identifying actions to improve energy efficiency.

Report

All the work carried out is described in a comprehensive report presenting the results obtained and the assumptions made. It proposes a detailed, costed action plan to be implemented, as well as a prioritisation of the actions to improve energy efficiency based on criteria established jointly with the customer. The report also includes a summary document summarising the actions to improve energy efficiency and the action plan for identified solutions.

7

8

Closing meeting

Finally, a closing meeting is organised to hand over the report to the customer and to present orally all the work carried out, as well as the summary of the audit. This meeting also allows the auditor to highlight the most relevant actions to improve energy efficiency, thus encouraging the client to take concrete decisions following the audit.

Instrumentation

The advantages of the instruments used during our measurement campaigns:

  • Plug & play monitoring without interrupting your production
  • Measure your electricity, gas, air and heat consumption
  • Able to view and download your energy consumption data for each machine, production line and plant
  • Suggestion of corrective actions specific to your production rate and type
